Marissa Wood - bio
I support people in repairing and regulating their neural network, reconnecting with their intuitive wisdom, and in discovering their natural state of ease, creativity, and purpose - as well as how to return to this state time and time again.
My work is rooted in the understanding that healing is not about fixing what is broken — it is about remembering who we are beneath the layers of conditioning, stress, and survival patterns. I help clients restore connection to their own energy signature so they can move through life with greater clarity, resilience, and authenticity.
My path to this work grew out of my own healing journey. As a teenager I struggled with depression, anxiety, eating disorder and substance use disorder, and through therapy I began learning tools to cope and understand myself. But it wasn’t until later that I discovered the body’s profound ability to heal, not just cope.
In 2017 I began studying Somatic Experiencing, and in the same year suffered a concussion which led to the discovery that I had a lifelong history of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from a concussion in infancy and multiple undiagnosed concussions thereafter. This realization and the life altering healing path it sent me on, fundamentally shifted my understanding of trauma, anxiety, depression, and a host of other ailments. Learning that our nervous systems can truly repair and reorganize changed my life and the direction of my work. And the healing I’ve experienced and now offer to others is not limited to “mental health” issues. I work with clients who come looking for relief from things like IBS, headaches and jaw pain.
Today I draw on over a decade of experience supporting people in their healing and growth. I have a Master’s in Social Work and practiced for many years as a licensed therapist, though I intentionally stepped away from that title so I could work more freely outside the narrow diagnostic frameworks that often overlook the deep influence of environment, culture, and conditioning on our well-being.
I am trained through the Advanced level of Somatic Experiencing and have been integrating this work into my practice since 2017. My approach combines nervous system repair, intuitive guidance, movement, sound, and nature-based experiences to support deep and lasting transformation.
Sessions may include Somatic Experiencing, intuitive energy work, movement practices, or time in nature. Clients can meet with me in my office or on the land where I live, where hiking trails and horses offer powerful support for healing and growth.
I often work with highly sensitive and intuitive people, neurodivergent teens and adults, creatives, and those seeking to step outside of society’s expectations to live more spiritually aligned and authentic lives. Many of my clients are navigating burnout, awakening to their intuitive gifts, or seeking a deeper connection to their creativity and purpose.
Outside of my work, my life is deeply rooted in the natural world. I live on a small farm where my days revolve around caring for the animals and staying present with the rhythms of nature. I am also a musician and play in several bands, and creativity remains one of the most important ways I stay connected to my own intuition and joy.
My work is an invitation to slow down, listen deeply to your body and inner guidance, and rediscover the natural intelligence within you that already knows the way forward. I support people in repairing and regulating their neural network, reconnecting with their intuitive wisdom, and in discovering their natural state of ease, creativity, and purpose - as well as how to return to this state time and time again.
